Hello Friends, We often need to upgrade our ubuntu OS, to get updated and use latest Ubuntu. We might be facing a common problem that the system will be unable to boot normally after install. It might be happen because of boot formate changes.
Older systems were using Legacy BIOS mode
now the newer uses UEFI(Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) mode
.
If you were using a system having Legacy BIOS mode
and installed never version of ubuntu, now you restart your system after installing fresh ubuntu you will be facing problem like:

If you got above problem don’t worry at all you have already installed the ubuntu no need to reinstall it. just follow these steps:
- Force reboot your system and go to
boot menu(BIOS setup)
- Change boot format from
legacy
toUEFI
- Press F10 and press enter.
Now you can see your system will be upgraded and boot normally.
Best practice while upgrading / Installing new ubuntu:
- Choose
something else
option when setup ask for choose drive. - Make a drive partition of atleast
40MB
withefi partition format
- Normally install your ubuntu.
- Change boot format from
legacy
toUEFI
in theBIOS
setting. - Restart your system.
